Okyanus Kar Sen, born in 1998 in Istanbul, Turkey, is a documentary photographer and photojournalist based in Strasbourg, France. From Strasbourg, he covers cultural and social topics in Alsace and surrounding cities.

He began photography during his high school years in Istanbul. During this period, he documented the daily lives of residents in a Romani neighborhood near Sultanahmet and attended various hands-on photography workshops, in addition to a one-month mentorship with Sinan Çakmak, photographer and editor-in-chief of Atlas, the photography and travel magazine.

After graduating from the Sainte Pulchérie French high school in Istanbul, he moved to France to pursue social sciences studies at the University of Strasbourg. In 2023, he put his social sciences studies on hold to fully dedicate himself to photography.

He has been affiliated with the Sipa press agency since March 2023 and with the Hans Lucas agency since February 2024. His background in social sciences, along with his additional work as a social care assistant—which he has been doing since 2019—continues to shape his photographic perspective.
